This dish is utterly divine. It is indulgent and sociable. Subtle in deliciousness due to the delicate spices used and none are so overpowering that it allows you to taste each spice individually. The rice becomes patchily stained by the juice of the sour cherries and the tadig (crust at the bottom of the pot) is fragrant and has a syrupy sweetness about it from the saffron and yoghurt. My husband tells me he can’t get enough of this meal and that the meatballs, that are delicately flavoured with turmeric, are like sweets!
The very first thing I learnt to ‘cook’ in the kitchen was jelly! Out of a packet, those little blocks of hard, chewy, way too sweet jelly that you had to dissolve in boiling water with a fork and would leave a sticky sugary residue on your teeth for hours after eating….
Lamb Nachos… just saying that makes me hungry!! Who doesn’t love a giant heap of nachos!?!
A few years ago my husband made me a beautiful Persian Love Cake for my birthday. It was a delicate cardamom chiffon sponge with a delicious fresh cream filling flavoured with rose water with candied rose petals and pistachios. It was incredible. I am unashamed to say that I ate pretty much the entire cake, bar one slice that he had, and I loved every mouthful.
Hello lovelies! Well….what a fantastic first event that was! The feedback from my guests far exceeded my expectations and my team & I had a lot of fun on the night! You can have a Supper Club anywhere you like. A home restaurant, a pop up restaurant, some people even have them in their garden sheds! These are the most interesting as they really appeal to the hardened foodie.

Nestled on a mountain roadside on the C77 in Valenciana en route to Guadalest (which can only be described as a bare knuckle car drive if you are of the nervous disposition like me) was this hidden gem of a restaurant ‘El Rui Guadalest’.
Having been together for just over a year, my then boyfriend and I travelled to Rome for my 30th birthday. It was such a cool experience and one that always makes me smile when I think about it. We had very little money and were just starting out in our relationship together. This was a lovely surprise birthday trip.
So in Ode to my honey rant above I have made this gorgeous Honey and Orange Blossom Syrup to douse my breakfast pancakes in. You’re welcome!
