After nearly falling in the canal on my run and straining my calf muscle I needed some really quick and yummy comfort food.
Did you know that Iran is one of the largest watermelon producers worldwide? Neither did I! And also, Iranian watermelon is considered to be one of the best varieties in the world! In the world! Can you believe it! And I always thought they came from the Caribbean!
Although the name suggests ‘lamb cutlets’ these couldn’t actually be further from them. They are little potato and saffron meat patties that look like little hamburgers but taste similar to Kabab. They can be served with rice and salad or with hot fresh lavash. I enjoy them both ways and can eat them by the dozen!
Another request from a follower are these gorgeous delicate little raisin cookies. They are lovely with a strong cup of Persian Chai and keep well in the fridge for a few weeks. Be careful though they are so easy to eat you could easily consume an entire plateful before you know it!
Now then, this is not my own recipe I am sad to say, however as soon as I tasted it I had to share it with as many people as I could! So from our friends table, to yours…. And thanks to Gem & Tim for sharing the recipe with me 🙂
This week has been absolutely lovely, not least because of the amazing weather we are having but also because I spent the day at Wimbledon with my team enjoying some lovely company, great tennis and wonderful food!
My grandmother was a wonderful women. She had a huge heart and amazing spirit. She loved to cook and her cooking was incredible! To this day when my dad cooks he references her cooking and sometimes he will taste something that catches him off guard and you can see it brings back memories of his mum, my mamanie, and he smiles.
